Books for Change
Make the Connection
Reading stimulates the imagination and a good imagination can change the world in the most splendid of ways. “Books for Change” believes every child deserves a book. Schools in the U.S. who participate in this program will be connected to schools in Ghana. Their school libraries will also receive a donation of several books that reflect Books for Change objective of diversity and acceptance.
-V Productions has partnered with us to capture the journey. With the use of modern technology we will bridge connections between students in the United States and those in Ghana, located in West Africa.
In March of 2010 students in central NY were able to participate in the first part of our interactive story sharing program. In November of 2010 we will travel to Ghana.
Upon our return to the United States -V Productions will produce a "rough cut" to present to the schools, businesses, organizations, and individuals who were part of the program. The "final cut," will be distributed to all schools who partipated.
The Alchemical Nursery is the non-profit organization that will be accepting donations on behalf of The Color of Family and the Books for Change Project.

Your school can help too, simply collect “change for books." Contact us for more information on how you can participate in this fun project to help spread literacy!

Collect change for Literacy!
- Set aside a month to collect “Change for Books.”
- Once you have collected your change take it to your community bank and have them count it in their machine.
- Write a check to Alchemical Nursery and put TCOF Books for Change in the memo section. Alchemical is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and is sponsoring this project.
- Mail the check directly to Alchemical Nursery, 200 South Geddes Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
- You can also pay online under the donation section through the "Network for Good" tab - make sure and put 'Books for Change' under the designation field.
